This is a new site dedicated to the One-Name Study of the RETTIE surname.
The study is registered with the Guild of One Name Studies.
The Guild define a one-name study as a project researching the genealogy and family history of all persons with a given surname – as opposed to researching a particular pedigree or specific descendancy.
My aims are as follows:
- to discover the origin of the surname
- to investigate changes in the geographical distribution of the surname over the centuries
- to attempt to reconstruct the genealogy of as many lines as possible bearing the name
