I’ve added the following #RETTIE records from ScotlandsPeople to the Sources section:
- 37 records from the 1855 Valuation Rolls
- 30 records from the 1865 Valuation Rolls
Some points of interest are:
- James RETTIE (son of silversmith Middleton RETTIE) owns several properties in Rettie’s Court in Aberdeen
- In 1865 James’ nephew Middleton RETTIE the lawyer is living on Great Stuart Street in Edinburgh
- Reverend Adam RETTIE still owns a property in Cuminestown after having been appointed minister for the parish of Evie on Orkney
- Brothers George and William RETTIE farm Wester Pettymarcus together on the lands of Kinmundy in Old Deer
- Farmer John RETTIE of Parkhouse in Old Deer will die aged 80 in November of 1865
- Farmer Charles RETTIE of Hythie in Old Deer is strangely absent from 1865 roll – he will die there aged 77 in 1893
- In 1865 Peter RETTIE the cooper is living in Duff Street and has a shed for his business on the waterfront in Macduff
